‘Lisa Lents’ Miss Denmark's Extraordinary Love of Martial Arts & Taekwondo

  

Last October, ‘Lisa Lents’ World Taekwondo Goodwill Ambassador from Miss World Denmark had a breathless two-weeks visit to Korea.

Lisa Lents, a goodwill ambassador for the World Taekwondo(President Chungwon Choue, WT) Miss World Denmark, visited Korea last October.

 

Goodwill Ambassador Lents is famous for her great affection for Korean culture and martial arts, including Taekwondo. She represented Denmark at the 2008 Miss World. Ambassador Lents, who first began Taekwondo training at the age of 10, is a Taekwondo fighter who has won about 160 international medals throughout her 24-year taekwondo career.

 

She has won European Championships, Junior World Championships, 9 times Nordic Championships and 20 times Danish Championships. If you look at her Taekwondo career, you can see that her career as a former beauty pageant is not everything.

 

Ambassador Lents, who is currently serving as the CEO of Miss Denmark, is an international referee of the World Taekwondo(WT) national Taekwondo team coach of Iceland, and also a member of the World Martial Arts Masterships Committee(President Si-Jong Lee, WMC).

 

■ 6th Dan Black Belt & Citations Promotion Postponed Due To COVID-19

Ambassador Lents visited Korea last October with her sister Master Edina Lents. The first place she visited was Suwon-si, Gyeonggi-do province.

 

The Lents sisters, who were unable to visit Korea during the COVID-19 pandemic, were successfully tested for the promotion to 6th Dan black belt by Grand Master In-sik Hwang, who served as the chairman of the Poomsae referee committee of the World Taekwondo(WT).

 

On this day, the Lents sisters received citations from the Gyeonggi-do Taekwondo Association(President Kyung-Deok Kim) after the Belt promotion.

 

■ A Five-Day Tour as an Official Commentator of Online World Taekwondo Poomsae Open Challenge

After finishing her schedule in Suwon-si, Gyeonggi-do province, Ambassador Lents immediately headed to the National Taekwondo Center in Muju-gun, Jeollabuk-do province.

 

This is to carry out the schedule as an official commentator for the '2022 Online World Taekwondo Poomsae Open Challenge Final'(here-in-after, referred to as Poomsae Open), which was held from October 10 to 15.

 

At the Poomsae Open, Ambassador Lents worked as an official commentator for five days with Joong-Heon Kim, Secretary-General of the Taekwondo Promotion Foundation(TPF) and professor of the Taekwondo Department, Yong-In University.

After finishing her schedule as an official commentator for the Poomsae Open, Ambassador Lents visited the World Taekwondo(WT) and the Kukkiwon(President Dong-Sup Lee, World Taekwondo Headquarters) in Seoul.

 

Ambassador Lents, who had meetings with President Chungwon Choue of the World Taekwondo(WT), and President Dong-Sup Lee of the Kukkiwon, continued her career as a Taekwondo goodwill ambassador.

 

■ Participate in the Martial Arts and Sports Awards Ceremony

Ambassador Lents attended the '2022 Korea Martial Arts and Sports Awards' held at the International Conference Hall of the Korea Press Center on Monday October 17.

 

The ceremony, which was held to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the launch of the Martial Arts Newspaper Company, was attended by VIP guests from all walks of life, including Chairman Jong-Pyo Choi of the Martial Arts Newspaper, President Si-Jong Lee of World Martial Arts Masterships Committee(WMC), 20th Vice Chairman Joo-Young Lee of the National Assembly, Vice Minister Ik-Pyo Hong of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and President Ki-Heung Lee of Korea Sports & Olympic Committee(KSOC), and President Dong-Sup Lee of the Kukkiwon won the martial arts grand prize.

 

■ Visit to International Relief NGO Goodwill Cooperation Service(GCS) International and Participation in Taekwondo Humanitarian Foundation

On Wednesday October 19, Ambassador Lents visited the NGO Goodwill Cooperation Service(GCS) International, a corporation founded and operated by Dr. Young-Sik Cho as an NGO for international relief-related activities.

 

The NGO Goodwill Cooperation Service(GCS) International, where President Chungwon Choue of the World Taekwondo(WT), is known to have signed a memorandum of understanding(MOU) with the Taekwondo Humanitarian Foundation(THF), a special advisory group to the United Nations Economic and Social Council.

Ambassador Lents, who visited the NGO Goodwill Cooperation Service(GCS) International, also left a signature on a banner commemorating the '2022 GCS International', which was successfully held at Siam University in Bangkok, Thailand, on October 14.

After finishing her schedule in Seoul, Ambassador Lents visited the UNESCO International Centre of Martial Arts(ICM) in Chungju-si, Chungcheongbuk-do Province, to attend the 'The 7th World Martial Arts Masterships Committee(WMC) General Meeting' held on Friday October 21.

Before the schedule for the 'The 7th WMC General Meeting' event began, Ambassador Lents and other WMC members visited the 'Peace Museum of the 8th UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon' in Eumseong-gun, Chungcheongbuk-do Province. The 8th UN Secretary-General Ki-Moon Ban has served as the honorary president of the '2019 Chungju World Martial Arts Mastership.'

After arriving at the UNESCO ICM, Ambassador Lents and WMC members attended the '2022 WMC International Martial Arts Industry Fair' held during the same period and attended the '7th WMC General Meeting.'

 

After the general meeting was completed, Ambassador Lents served as the same female member of World Martial Arts Masterships Committee(WMC) and took a commemorative photo with professor Mi-jung Kim of Yong-In University, who had won a gold medal in Judo at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics.

In a short interview with a reporter, Ambassador Lents, who finished her official dinner and finished all her visits schedule to Korea, said, "I sincerely congratulate WMC on its associated membership in the Global Association of International Sports Federations(President Ivo Ferriani, GAISF)." And then, emphasizing that martial arts play a very important role in world peace, she also reexamined the role of the WMC’s ‘Mastership Movement’ in contributing to world peace.

 

During her about two-week visit schedule to South Korea, she visited six cities and had a hectic schedule attending four official events as a 'Goodwill Ambassador' of world martial arts, including Taekwondo.

 

Through the passion shown by Goodwill Ambassador Lisa Lents during her visit to Korea, we were able to reconfirm the contents and importance of the messages that 'Hallyu Taekwondo' and 'K-Martial Arts(Hallyu Muye)' deliver to the world.
