2023 World Senior Muaythai Championships held in May for 30th anniversary
The '2023 IFMA Senior World Muaythai Championships' will be held in Bangkok, Thailand from May 3rd to 13th.
As it is a World Senior Championships organized and hosted by 'International Federation of Muaythai Associations(President Dr. Sakchye Tapsuwan, IFMA),' which marks its 30th anniversary in this year, various events were prepared as well as the amateur muaythai competition category.
In particular, this championships are allocated as the final direct qualifier in the qualification event series towards the '2023 World Combat Games,' which will be held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from October 21st to 30th.
The 'Korea Muaythai Association(President Ju-hyun Kim, KMTA),' which has official authority of IFMA for activities in Korea, already had selecting national players and Korean national teams(Director. Kwang-yeol Kim) will participate.
In addition to amateur muaythai competitions, the categories of "Wai Kru" and "Mai Muay" will also be held at this world championships. On Friday, the 12th, May, during the world championships, they will try to break the Guinness Records for the muaythai Wai kru dancing. Currently, the Guinness Records for the highest number of muaythai Wai kru dancing was recorded as 3,660 muaythai trainees demonstrated Wai kru at the same time as part of the "Day of Muaythai" event held in Huahin, Thailand, on February 6th.
