"KURASH" become a member of Busan Sports Council

'Kurash,' the traditional martial arts of Uzbekistan was approved as a member of the 'Busan Sports Council'(President In-Hwa Jang) on the February 2nd.

On the February 11th, at the '2023 General Assembly of Representatives' of the 'Korea Kurash Federation'(President Young-Sik Kim, KKF) held at Shilla University in Busan, South Korea. On the same day, President Young-Sik Kim announced the membership of the 'Busan Kurash Federation'(President Nak-Hyun Seong) to the Busan Sports Council.

On the 11th, the KKF held the 'Instructors and Referee Seminar' and the '2023 General Assembly of Representatives'. As the membership of the Busan Kurash Federation became official on the same day, the second membership of the city and provincial sports association of South Korea was made after the Chungcheongbuk-do Kurash Federation.

President Young-Sik Kim said, "The new city and provincial Kurash association will be joined soon, and good news is expected in April."

Kurash is a traditional martial arts in Uzbekistan and other Central Asian countries. Similar martial arts include △Alysh and Kyrgyz Kurosh(Kyrgyzstan) △Ashyrtmaly Aba Gureshi(Turkiyeh) △Goresh(Turkmenistan) △Gushtini Milli kamarbandi(Tajikistan) △Gyulesh(Azerbaijan) △Kazakh Kuresi(Kazakhstan) △Pahlavani(Iran) etc.

The martial arts techniques are similar to the Ssireum, Korean traditional wrestling, but the overall way of sports playing is similar to Judo of Japan. Kurash of Uzbekistan has been adopted as an official sports event since the '2018 Jakarta-Palembang Asian Games,' achieving faster martial arts sports processes than other Central Asian countries.

The KKF is an authorized organization of the 'International Kurash Association'(President Haider Farman, IKA) and the 'Kurash Confederation of Asia-Oceania'(President Komil Ruziev, KCAO). Mr. Hyung-Sik Bae, vice president of the KKF, serves as a 3-Star international referee and Sports Committee chairman of IKA.
